Understanding the 4 Cs
The quality and value of a diamond are determined by the 4Cs: Cut, Clarity, Color, and Carat Weight. At Lovely Jewellery, we strictly adhere to these global standards.
1. Cut
The cut determines the diamond's brilliance. It refers to the angles and proportions of a diamond. An Ideal or Excellent cut allows light to travel through the stone and reflect out, creating that signature sparkle.
2. Color
Diamond color is graded on a scale from D (Colorless) to Z (Light Yellow).
D-F: Colorless (Rarest and most valuable)
G-J: Near Colorless (Great value, color is hard to detect)
K-M: Faint Yellow
3. Clarity
Clarity refers to the absence of inclusions (internal flaws) and blemishes (external).
FL/IF: Flawless (No imperfections visible under 10x magnification)
VVS1/VVS2: Very, Very Slightly Included
VS1/VS2: Very Slightly Included (Standard for high-quality jewelry)
SI1/SI2: Slightly Included
4. Carat
Carat refers to the physical weight of the diamond. One carat equals 200 milligrams. While larger diamonds are rarer, the value is determined by the combination of all 4Cs.
